Some highlights include the opening of The Friedman Diabetes Institute, which focuses on the lifestyle of the diabetic patient to ensure lasting medical success; the increase in the number of accessible interpreters and special navigator programs to ease cultural barriers for our Jewish, Chinese, and Russian patients; and the opening of The Chris and Morton P. Hyman Patient Care Unit, which features amenities similar to five-star hotels.

In addition, Beth Israel Orthopedics has been named "Best in Manhattan for Overall Orthopedics Services" by HealthGrades, an independent hospital ratings agency, and has been awarded their Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award and their Spine Surgery Excellence Award . HealthGrades has also rated Beth Israel Orthopedics as "5 Star" (best), in Overall Orthopedics, Hip Fracture Repair, Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery.
