A Double-Blind Phase III Trial of Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide followed by Paclitaxel with Bevacizumab or Placebo in Patients with Lymph Node Positive and High Risk Lymph Node Negative Breast Cancer

The current standard chemotherapy medications for breast cancer are doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide and paclitaxel. The purpose of this study is to determine if adding a medication by the name of bevacizumab (Avastin) to the current standard chemotherapy reduces the risk cancer coming back when compared to standard chemotherapy alone.
- Age 18 and older
- Patients must have completed definitive breast surgery
- Patients who have undergone breast conservation surgery must receive radiation.
- Patients must not have received prior cytotoxic chemotherapy or hormonal therapy. Prior treatment with an anthracycline (doxorubicin), anthracenedione (benzoquinone), or taxane (docetaxel) for any condition is not allowed.
