The current standard chemotherapy medications for breast cancer are doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide and paclitaxel.  The purpose of this study is to determine if adding a medication by the name of bevacizumab (Avastin) to the current standard chemotherapy reduces the risk cancer coming back when compared to standard chemotherapy alone.

  • Patients who have undergone breast conservation surgery must receive radiation.
  • Patients must not have received prior cytotoxic chemotherapy or hormonal therapy.  Prior treatment with an anthracycline (doxorubicin), anthracenedione (benzoquinone), or taxane (docetaxel) for any condition is not allowed.
