How the Heart Works

A normal, healthy heart beats 100,000 times and pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood each day. The heart is responsible for supplying the body with its blood supply.  Blood is transported through the body via the circulatory system.  The circulatory system includes major organs such as the heart and lungs as well as blood vessels including arteries and veins. This system serves as the highway by which blood travels to fuel the body with oxygen and nutrients.
