BETH ISRAEL LAUNCHES NEW HEART INSTITUTE

In an effort to bridge its many comprehensive programs in cardiac care and provide patients with streamlined access to its full range of services, Beth Israel has established the Beth Israel Heart Institute. The Institute is under the direction of world-renowned cardiologist, Thomas Killip, M.D.

ROSS PROCEDURE

ROSS Procedure gains acceptance -- as results reveal minimal perioperative complications and good results over short-term follow-up. The Ross procedure is a pulmonary autograft procedure for replacement of the diseased aortic valve. Until 5 years ago, the procedure was not widely performed.

SIEMENS' ROOM OPENS

The Heart Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt recently opened "the Siemens' Room"-- the new electrophysiology lab. The Siemens' Room is one of the few labs in the area equipped for biplane imaging. This sophisticated digital mapping technology allows physicians to perform very precise diagnostic tests and minimally invasive procedures such as catheter ablation to completely cure specific forms of cardiac arrhythmias.
