Type 2 Diabetes study- Seeking patients Who Are Only on Metformin

Summary:

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Beth Israel Medical Center is participating in a research project to assess the glycemic control of Rimonabant in comparison with Glimeperide (Amaryl) over 1 year in overweight/obese patients with type 2 diabetes not adequately controlled with Metformin. IRB study #006-07. This is a double blind, parallel-group, multicenter study.

Criteria for Participation:

• 18 years old or older
• Type 2 diabetes
• Taking metformin only
• BMI >27 kg/m2
• Willing to perform self monitoring blood glucose
